Sunday School News

Our Sunday School program is held from September through Promotion Sunday which is normally held at the end of May. The classes are held during the same hours as our worship service. Our program has classes for children starting at age 3 through 7th grade.

In addition to lessons about the bible, activities are held for the children throughout the year. Visit our calendar page to see the different activities.

Confirmation classes are held separately for teenagers entering 8th grade and are conducted by Rev. Douglas Madlon.

Women's Bible Study

We meet every other Wednesday at 2:30pm in the parlor from September through June. We alternate between the bible, women in the bible and Christian books.

Our study sessions last about an hour to an hour and a half. You may check our calendar tab of the website to see what Wednesday's we meet or call the Church office at 631-581-7663.

The craft ladies meet every Wednesday night at 7pm upstairs on the third floor.

We are busy preparing for the Holiday Fair and can always use help and ideas! Even if you are not necessarily crafty, we will show you what to do!

Everyone is welcome to join us as we get crafty and creative, as we stitch and glue, measure and cut and have many, many laughs!

Men's Bible Breakfast

Meets every Wednesday morning at 7:30am with breakfast for a half hour. Then we adjourn to the parlor for a half hour of Bible study. No Bible experience is necessary and joining in the discussion is purely voluntary. The breakfast is prepared by a different member each week and the discussion is led by a different member each week also. Participation in these tasks is voluntary. The cost of the breakfast is $5.00 The session ends at exactly 8:30am so members can get to work. Please join us.

Men's Softball Team

The men’s softball team is known as the Islip United Methodist Prophets.  The Prophets play as part of the Suffolk Christian League (for more information on this league such as rules, guidelines, schedules, and contact information for league representatives please visit escl.net).  Our team currently consists of members of all ages, however all members must be at least 15 years of age to play in this league.  Softball practices begin the first or second week of March and are held one to two nights per week until the season begins.

The season usually begins during the first week of April and runs through mid August (including playoffs).  The majority of league games are played on Monday evenings at 6:30 PM; however, games are occasionally played on Tuesday nights at 6:30 PM during the regular season, and more frequently during the playoffs.  We play both home and away games with all games occurring within Suffolk County.  Our home field is located behind the Early Childhood Education Center in East Islip and roughly half of our league games will be played at this location.

Being a part of our team offers a chance to play softball while enjoying fellowship both on and off the field.  A few of the many great team and league activities that occur throughout the year include: an annual softball barbeque (men’s and women’s teams), an annual fall one pitch tournament, Softball Sunday at church, team fundraisers and an annual League Awards Banquet. We are always seeking new players to join in our fellowship.
